Bowling!

My mom and I decided to take the kids ten pin bowling today. We have a bowling alley that just underwent major renovations. It was so clean and and bright.
The kids went in their socks because the bowling shoes fell off. I guess they have little feet! They put us on lane #1 (as far away from others as possible! LOL) and showed us where the "light" balls were. Colin liked that they were green!

It was so cute! Nana started out helping Colin "drop" the ball down the lane. Tatum preferred placing the ball down and gently pushing it. She did try to kick it, but I caught her foot before it connected. Whew!

They took turns in each frame. Tatum started with the first ball and then Colin cleaned up. He actually got 2 spares! Not that he was aiming! I think the balls were so slow that they changed directions each time they hit the bumpers.

We had to keep an eye on Tatum as she got tired of waiting for the ball to come back and would try to stick her face close to the machine. She was so cute watching her ball go down the lane.
Colin was good at waiting for his turn. He would stand there holding his ball and then say, "Colin's turn". I love that he is starting to talk. The sound of his voice is amazing! We had to watch him after he dropped his ball. he kept getting distracted by the big kids and there orange and blue bowling balls. Once, he tried to go over to their lane.
The first combined game, they scored a 69. The second had Colin's spares, so they wound up with a 91! Tatum was all done after two games, but Colin could have kept going! He pouted and said "Colin's turn, green ball".

Both kids were exhausted tonight...so was their mother! Tatum went right down to sleep as usual around 7:30. Colin asked to go upstairs 8:15. Daddy read a few stories and Colin was asleep at 8:30.

I can't wait to go back!

Fish in the water

On Tuesday, Colin had his last class as a pike with parent. He is graduating to Pike 1! That means that mommy gets to sit and watch her boy swim each week. I'm so proud of him!
He is swimming with a 2 bubble on and doing great. During the class, they practice swimming across the pool to the lane lines. Colin always gets halfway and then tries to turn around. His teacher catches him before he escapes and then he swims to the lane line. It's so cute!
Colin is also working on swimming on his back. Kicking is NOT a strong suit while on his back. He is getting more comfortable with it though.
He is, however, fantastic riding the noodle like a horse. He kicks very fast and uses his arms to steer and balance. It's pretty cool to see.
He's getting to be such a big boy and I love to watch how much he enjoys the water!

Gymnastics Show

On Monday, Tatum had her first gymnastics show. It was so cute! They started around a large play parachute. They stretched around it and then got to play on it. Tatum started at the balance beam and let the teacher work with her while I watched. We moved on to the bars and the rope swing. Tatum LOVES the rope swing.
Just then, someone came in looking for me. It seems that Colin told the teachers in his playroom that he needed to use the potty. I was very excited that he told them, but his timing...well. I had to leave to bring Colin to the bathroom and Tatum actually stayed with the teacher and continued without me! How cute is she! We headed to vault and another favorite...the trampoline!
At the end of class, each kid got to stand on the mat and receive their award. Tatum got "most flexible". She was so excited to get...her stamp and coloring page! Mom was more excited about the ribbon and the smile.
