Mystic Aquarium

We went to the Mystic Aquarium to meet up with some friends that we met in China last year. We spent that entire trip with them as their daughter is from the same province as Tatum. Their older daughter Jorie is just a little older than Colin and Terra is the same age as Tatum. It was so great to see them! We plan on doing a day trip together at least once a year.

The aquarium was busy and hot, but it was fabulous! The kids loved looking at the animals, especially the beluga whales. The shark tank was another favorite. They weren't too keen on sticking their hands into the touch pond though.

Lunch was fun all together and we even bought the picture of all of us together. Colin and Tatum picked out books before we left. Tatum chose a Curious George at the Aquarium and Colin went with Good Night Ocean. They both slept all the way home!

Easton Children's Museum

We took the kids to the Easton Children's Museum. It is in an old fire station with a lot of charm. We spent nearly 3 hours exploring there. The immediate favorite was the ball roll. The kids took a golf ball up the stairs and dropped it into the maze through bells and gongs and whistles. Tatum liked the train table and enjoyed designing the town. Colin had fun driving the boat and even caught a lobster and a crab! The royal throne was perfect for Tatum complete with crown. Meanwhile, Colin climbed into the tent to enjoy some camping.

Upstairs, we spent some time coloring, using legos and creating shapes on a giant geoboard. Tatum drove the fire truck with the Dalmatians and saved the day. Colin delivered the mail and then met Tatum in the kitchen. Colin cooked using the microwave and Tatum brewed some coffee for me.

We will definitely go back!

Capron Park

Dennis and I took the kids to Capron Zoo. It's a small zoo with a little splash area. It's perfect for an afternoon out. It also has a playground outside the zoo with alot of slides and swings.

We enjoyed walking around and looking at the animals. There was a bridge over a little pond with lemurs on either side. The kids liked the ducks and the bubbles.

Tatum loved feeding the llamas and the goats. Colin just watched this time and giigled. Colin's favorite was the otters. He liked to watch them play in the water. Tatum really liked the lions.

Newport

We headed down to Newport to spend the day. The traffic was awful and it took 2 hours to get there. However, as soon as we got there, the ride down was history. We decided to be brave and not bring the stroller. The kids did great! They walked like such big kids. We walked along the waterfront and looked at all the boats. Then we went over to our favorite restaurant, the Brick Alley Pub. There was a bit of a wait so we went down the street to the Life is Good store. Colin picked out a golf shirt and Tatum chose a flower.

Luch was great. The kids had cheeseburgers and ate them all. They also got to color and draw the whole time which made them happy. On the way back, Tatum got tired and wanted to be carried. They both fell asleep shortly after leaving. Next time, we may try the beach!

Golfing

Nana and I took the kids mini golfing. I don't know who enjoyed themselves more, the kids or the adults!
Colin wanted the green ball and Tatum chose the yellow. They loved carrying their own clubs around and felt like big kids. Tatum put down her ball and we showed her how to hit it. Of course, she then had to redo the whole scenario by herself! (oh to be 2) The ball didn't go very far and she kept hitting it down towards the cup again she got it in. Then she clapped and said "Yay Tatum!" We repeated steps 1-10 with Colin. However, on the next hole, something changed...
Tatum hit the ball a few times and then suddenly picked up the ball. She proceeded to walk to the cup and put the ball right next to the hole. She smiled and hit the ball in and clapped again. Colin was next. He hit the ball once and it was a pretty good shot. He then giggled, picked up the ball, ran to the cup and put it in the hole! The rest of the game went exactly like that. They did take a little break halfway through by sitting on the green and watching the big kids ahead of them.
The time flew by because we had so much fun watching them. Every time we go by the mini golf place, Colin says "need to go golfing. Hit the ball in the hole." I can't wait to go back!
